“Cooperative training implemented jointly with LILAMA 2 International Technology College is successful, because the in-company training phases are well structured and carefully prepared by the two partners,” Mr. Vu Van Sang, Deputy General Director of Ishisei Vietnam, partner company for Metal Cutting-CNC, stated. “The joint selection of relevant modules to be implemented in the company, the training of in-company trainers and the preparation of working places for the trainees ensures a smooth implementation of the in-company training phases. The skills of the trainees exceed our expectations: After two weeks at Ishisei Vietnam, they are already able to operate the machines independently”.
Different modes of delivery of training involving the business sector were discussed at the Workshop “Intensifying Cooperation between TVET Institutes and Enterprises to Improve the Quality of TVET” organized by DoLISA Dong Nai which took place at LILAMA 2 on 20 July 2018. Representatives of DoLISA Dong Nai, Department of Taxation Dong Nai, VCCI HCMC, Industrial Zones, companies and TVET Institutes in Dong Nai contributed to a lively discussion. Mr. Nguyen Khanh Cuong, Rector of LILAMA 2, explained how LILAMA 2, supported by the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam, engaged the business sector in the development of occupational standards and training programmes for four occupations. The focus lies now on the implementation of well-defined in-company training phases at selected partner companies. During the workshop, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with two new partner companies: Thuan Hai Corporation and SeAH Steel Vina Corporation.
Mr. Pham Van Cong, Vice Director of DoLISA Dong Nai concluded: “The example of LILAMA 2 shows that only the involvement of the business sector in all steps of TVET, ranging from the development of occupational standards and training programmes, the joint delivery of training to assessment and certification, ensures demand-orientation of TVET and thus provides skilled workers matching the needs of the business sector in the province and beyond. The pilot experiences of LILAMA 2 and VCMI, which are being supported by the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam in close coordination with Dong Nai People’s Committee and DoLISA, will be used to help other TVET institutes in the province to adopt similar approaches.”
