Training and Assessment course for Vocational Trainers of the Occupation Metal Cutting and CNC

In the frame of the Vietnamese – German Cooperation and within the activity field “Support of Centres of Excellence for TVET” of the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam, an initial training and assessment course in Conventional Metal Cutting and CNC has been conducted from 09-17 May 2015 for twelve technical trainers of LILAMA 2 – Technical and Technology College. This field of activity of the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam focuses on the establishment and promotion of specific industrial occupations according to German standard. Occupations such as metal cutting/CNC, industrial mechanics, industrial electronics and mechatronics are being established and promoted.

The overarching concept of this and all subsequent further trainings for technical trainers of LILAMA 2 College aims to build up their professional competence in the above mentioned industrial occupations. It assures consequently the provision of high quality vocational training at the Centre of Excellence for TVET in Vietnam at LILAMA 2 Technical & Technology College.

The course takes place at two learning and practicing places where the theoretical part is being taught in LILAMA 2 College and the machine-practice is being conducted in the workshops of the Vietnam-German Training Center at HCM UTE, which workshop organization and equipment makes training according to German industry standard feasible.

The course “Training and Assessment Course: Conventional Metal Cutting and CNC” is being led by a German short-term expert, who specializes in the occupation metal cutting/CNC. The training part contains the production of simple and semi-complex work pieces by conventional lathe and milling machines. Next to practical work, the course includes operational planning as well as the consequent evaluation of the product and of the manufacturing process (conventional and CNC) for quality assurance.

Besides its main objective of practising the operation of conventional machine tools, the final theory and practice assessment of the participants is oriented on the German Examination Standard of the Chamber of Trade and Industry (IHK) which determines the current competency status of the participants in the field of metal cutting/ CNC. The results of the theory and practice assessments, as well as the observation during the training regarding work ethics and attitudes, set the basis for the further tailoring of the further training programme for technical trainers of LILAMA 2 College.
