Within the framework of joint activities between the Programme “Reform of TVET in Vietnam II”-GIZ and its partner colleges, the comprehensive survey for the implementation capacity of 2 new green occupations of Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology (SHK) and Electronics for Energy and Building Technology (EEB) was organised at Long An College, Vietnamese – German Technical College of Ha Tinh and Nha Trang College of Technology from Jan 3rd to Jan 12th, 2024. The survey was conducted by five multipliers of College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI), aiming to assess the readiness of three partner colleges for implementing two German standard oriented training programmes.
During the 10-day on-site survey, the multipliers surveyed the current facilities, equipment, and the capacity of teachers at the three partner colleges. The multipliers identified areas that needed further development and investment, including missing equipment and workshops, and required additional training devices and equipment at each college. The multipliers also included a detailed assessment of the competency of teachers, identifying topics where further training and development may be required to enable the teachers effectively implement the new green training programmes. Based on the survey results, the level of readiness and potential challenges in implementing the two new German standard oriented training programmes were discussed with each of the 3 surveyed colleges.
The multipliers also advised the teachers and management of the 3 surveyed colleges on key implementational topics such as the preparation of final examinations part 1 & part 2 (AP1 and AP2), student recruitment, collaboration with enterprises in training, and job opportunities for trainees. Through this collaborative effort, key teachers from three partner colleges gained insights into the intricacies of training for new green occupations. This marks the initial step in the preparation and implementation plan for the training programmes of SHK and EEB occupations.
Speaking at the evaluation meeting, Mr. Van Dinh Thanh, Vice Rector of Nha Trang College, stated “This survey brings great insights into the readiness of colleges in implementing disseminated training programmes. The multipliers helped us recognize specific gaps in facilities, equipment, and human resources when implementing the disseminated training programmes. Following this survey, the 3 partner colleges will have clearer direction, enabling them to successfully implement the training programmes of these green occupations”.
This activity was held within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes”, supported by the Programme “Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam”- on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Vietnamese Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) under the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA). The programme aims to better align TVET to the changing world of work which will be increasingly digital and green.
