A one-week practical training course on “Workshop Management and Electrical Installment” to enhance workshop management awareness and to build an model practical training workshop of industrial standard was implemented by Mr. Michael Stark- Development Advisor of Programme “Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Vietnam”- GIZ at Bac Ninh College of  Industry from 15 to 19 July 2019. Participating in the training were  18 teachers and trainers from Automotive Department, Mechanics Department and Electrics Department of Bac Ninh College of Industry. Mr. Michael Stark, the trainer/GIZ Development Advisor, emphasised: “This practical training is hands-on and specific for the conditions and needs of Bac Ninh College of Industry. The teachers all physically worked to transform their own workshop. They have learnt by doing.”

On the first day, management boards and teaching staffs of Bac Ninh College of Industry attended the presentations on 5S workshop management and basic electrical installment delivered by the GIZ Development Advisor. Direct demonstration of installment techniques according to industrial standard was also carried out to set a model for the installment during the training. Specific tasks were discussed and assigned to different working groups.  

On the next 4 days, the teacher and the trainer worked together to transform the current automotive practical training workshop into a workshop that meets industrial standard, starting with the first step of 5S-“sorting”. After 4 working days, all unused and broken items were removed from the workshop; new metal cabinets were installed and placed in the designated positions according to the new workshop layout; new main power distribution boxes were designed and assembled; a trunk to support cables and wires was put in place; electrical lines and sockets were installed with necessary technical reinforcement to ensure the safety and durability of the electrical system. On the fifth day, the development advisor checked the quality and technical standard for all the electrical systems, then made some adaptation. The workshop was ready for practical training. 

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Vũ Quang Khuê, Vice Rector of the college, said : “This training helped us practically see how we can improve our practical training workshop and workshop management practices. Our teacher will continue to improve their workshop management, using the skills and knowledge learnt from this workshop.” On behalf of teachers, Mr. Võ Văn Hùng, Head of Automotive Department  also shared “The lecturers who directly worked on the training have not only gained useful practical experiences but also learnt much from the working attitude and technical skills of the GIZ Development Advisor”.
