The Final Exam AP2 of the two occupations “Electronics for Energy and Building Technology” and “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology” organised at VCMI following AP1

The Final Exam AP2 of the two occupations “Electronics for Energy and Building Technology” (EEB) and “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology” (SHK) was organised from October 23 – October 28, 2023, at the College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) for 2 pilot classes including 14 students from EEB and 16 students from SHK. The exam took place oriented to German standard, with the support and supervision of the two experts from the Chamber of Crafts HwK Erfurt (Germany) – Mr Dirk Kittel and Mr Kay Toepfer. The processes to organise the exam and the assessment methods ensured the equivalence to the final exam standards in Germany but were also adjusted to suit the conditions in Viet Nam.

The preparation, implementation and assessment of the exam were conducted with the close cooperation of the four company representatives including Hoa Binh Construction Group, Vietnam AIC JSC (for EEB) and Vietnam Daikin Airconditioning JSC (for SHK) as examiners. All examiners took part in an examiner training in November 2022, and were recognised as competent to assess the German standard oriented exams.

Mr Dirk Kittel commented about the final exam AP2: “Even though this is the first time the exam is organised oriented to German standards, VCMI has made great efforts and coordinated closely with business partners and GIZ under the advice from the Chamber of Crafts HwK Erfurt to make the exam run smoothly and successfully.” In addition, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Team leader of construction site, Vietnam AIC JSC, said: “As a judge evaluating this exam, I find out that students have been trained very methodically; their capacities and knowledge are suitable for actual needs of businesses”.

Mr. Ho Ngoc Vu, Training team leader, Vietnam Daikin Airconditioning JSC also shared “The exam has assessed all the required output standards for SHK students. Being participated in this exam, I learned about the planning stage during the exam to supplement the skills exam process at Daikin”. “The final exam part 2 took place very objectively with a focus on results as well as compliance with German standards in terms of content and implementation” said, Mr Kay Toepfer.

After the exam took place, VCMI also held a Certificate Handover Ceremony of exam organisation equivalent to German standards with the participation of experts from HwK Erfurt, representatives from the General Department of Vocational Education and Training and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development along with teachers from 11 colleges in the system of high-quality vocational education and training institutions supported by GIZ.

This activity was organised within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes” as part of the Vietnamese – German Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
