The rapid development of E-mobility technology in recent years has not only reformed the automotive industry but also highlighted an urgent need for training a skilled workforce.
Within the framework of the Viet Nam-Germany Development Cooperation Programme Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam, core teachers of the Automotive Technology occupation at Vietnamese-German Technical College of Ha Tinh and Nha Trang College of Technology have been supported by e-mobility-industry experts in the development of a training module for e-mobility and the teaching materials for the module based on working positions and respective required competencies in the industry. To gain feedback from automotive teachers/ trainers on the relevance and implementational feasibility of the developed training module and teaching materials, a Consultation Workshop on the “E-mobility Training module and the teaching material” was held from November 21 to 23, 2024 at the Vietnamese-German Technical College of Ha Tinh, with the participation of 22 teachers from 10 TVET colleges offering Automotive Technology training programs at both college and intermediate levels, as well as two experts from the E-mobility industry representing the business sector.
Participants discussed on the content of E-mobility training module
During the two-day workshop, participants engaged in discussion and experience sharing on various approaches to developing a training module for e-mobility based on working positions in enterprises which taking into account the perspectives from both employers and TVET colleges. Key aspects such as target learners, skill and knowledge objectives, the training content and coherence of related lessons as well as the integration of technology and industrial standards were thoroughly discussed and clarified. Participants also discussed integrating Green, Inclusive, and Digital Transformation elements into the training module, designing the content and structural format in compliance with the regulatory requirements for curricula and teaching materials within the TVET system, identified challenges in training module delivery and proposed potential solutions.
To facilitate the participant’s better understanding of the job positions, the competency requirements associated with these positions and the working environment in enterprises that the E-mobility training module is aimed at, all participants had the opportunity to explore an actual E-mobility maintenance and servicing workshop through a study tour. The participants were able to directly explore the industrial workshop layout, observe the actual working processes at various positions and assess the facilities and equipment. This helps participants to gain deeper insights into industry standards, they also discussed potential collaboration opportunities between the TVET colleges and E-mobility enterprises in training activities.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the teachers and industry experts reached a consensus on key aspects for improvement in developing a comprehensive E-mobility training module aligned with job requirements in reality. Additionally, the workshop emphasized the crucial role of teachers in enhancing their capabilities and proactively collaborating with enterprises, ensuring readiness mindset to train a workforce for the evolving labor market of potential E-mobility sector.
The Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in cooperation with the Vietnamese Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) under the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
