Technical Training On Welding Techniques For Automotive Technology Teachers At Nha Trang College Of Technology 

Within the cooperation framework between the Programme “Reform of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam” – GIZ and Nha Trang College of Technology, Mr. Alwin Matthias Angert, Development Advisor for Automotive Technology occupation of the Programme conducted a practical training workshop on welding knowledge and skills for Automotive Technology teachers from 15 September to 1 October 2022. 

In practical training sessions, Mr. Alwin Matthias Angert exchanged and shared knowledge on the complex structure of the car body, different sorts of steel as well as method of restoring or partly replacement by the appropriate welding technique. Development Advisor and teachers also applied welding process and knowledge into practice by welding and manufacturing the movable trolleys to store welding machines and gas cylinders with machinery, equipment and material supported by GIZ. The manufacturing of these trolleys also contributes a neater and more scientific arrangement to the workshop management activity, effectively serves the training purpose in Automotive Technology occupation at workshop. Teachers also had the opportunity to get more hands-on experience with welding machines and apply different welding techniques. 

Simultaneously, teachers and GIZ’s Development Advisor actively discussed to provide ideas and experience that will be integrated into the training materials of the new module in the Automotive Technology training curriculum: Body shop and Painting. Development Advisor also mentioned the necessary safety instructions during the training processes. 

Mr. Matthias Angert said, “Teachers are requested to practice more with available machines and equipment at the workshop to improve their professional knowledge in the field of welding, which is very important in the Body shop – Painting module of the Automotive Technology training curriculum.” 

After the training, all the teachers gave positive feedback about the contents and outcomes of the training.

The Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Vietnamese Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) under the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA). The programme aims to better align TVET to the changing world of work which will be increasingly digital and green.
