From 06th until 19th June 2015, in collaboration with the Dresden Sewage Company, the field of activities 3: Vocational training in the waste water sector under the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam is implementing a summer school on “Sewage Engineering” in Germany. The course participants are 4 teachers of Ho Chi Minh Vocation College for Technology and 9 training engineers from 5 urban drainage companies of the provinces Binh Duong, Khanh Hoa, Can Tho, Ba Ria Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City.
The summer school focuses on practical skills of operating sewer network and waste water treatment plants, so that in the near future, the participants will gain the German standard for sewage engineering technicians.
The training contents on sewage are being provided by the most experienced engineers and in-company-trainers of Dresden Drainage Company, as well as teachers from Pirna Vocational Training Center of Technology and Economy.
With advice and support of the trainers, the course participants have to design required working process and prepare necessary equipment and materials. After that, they have to implement below mentioned main tasks by themselves:
Furthermore, Vietnamese teachers and in-company-trainers are gained knowledge on biological wastewater and sludge treatment processes, teaching methods and workshop management. They had also different excursions to decentralized wastewater treatment plants in Leipzig and Marktanstädt, to waterworks and to special buildings for flooding control in Dresden.
At the end of the summer school, all participants will have a theoretical and practical test based on the model of the German final examination for Sewage Engineering Technicians. The assessment results give a necessary input to design the next further training courses. The trained teachers and in-company-trainers will apply and multiply the gained knowledge and skills in implementing the pilot vocational training programme on “Sewage Engineering” at their institutes.
