Dong Nai, 29 October 2024 – Dr. Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) visited LILAMA 2 International Technology College, as part of her high-level visit to Viet Nam this October. The visit highlighted bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and Germany in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and legal, safe and fair labour migration.
Rector Nguyen Khanh Cuong introduced about LILAMA 2 college’s training workshops and equipment
Dr. Kofler was accompanied by colleagues from BMZ, representatives from the German Parliament, the German Embassy in Ha Noi, the German Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The delegation had the chance to gain insight at LILAMA 2 college on how training programs oriented on German standards are delivered by competent teachers in modern practical training facilities. The training at the college is interlinked with in-company training at partner companies. Within the frame of Vietnamese-German Development Cooperation ‘Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam’, capacities at the colleges have been visibly advanced within the last 10 years and are building a foundation to provide competent workers to the labour market in Viet Nam and abroad.

A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a letter of intent between Dr. Kofler and Rector Nguyen Khanh Cuong for the establishment of a new German language lab at LILAMA 2 college within the frame of the “Programme Partnerships for Development-Oriented Vocational Training and Labour Migration” (PAM). This initiative aims to expand upon the successful outcomes of the development-oriented vocational training and migration track in metal cutting, preparing LILAMA 2 students for the labour markets in Viet Nam and Germany. The language lab will enable more TVET students to acquire German language skills, thereby enhancing their international labour mobility and providing them with fair and ethical opportunities to access the German labour market.
