On 30 October 2019, the Continuing Training Department of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training cooperated with the Vietnamese German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam to organise a consultative workshop on adaptation and application of the ASEAN standard for in-company trainers in the context of Vietnam’s TVET sector.
At the workshop, leaders and representatives from DVET’s relevant departments as well as experts from the business sector and TVET institutes were working together to outline the profile of an in-company trainer based on ASEAN standards. Participants also agreed on a number of principles to orient the development of a training curriculum for in-company trainers which should:
After the training, in-company trainers are expected to acquire essential skills from training need assessment to training planning, implementation and assessment. They will also be able to identify partners’ training needs and capacity as well as negotiate and sign training contracts.
“Together with specific policies and mechanisms, a quality training curriculum for in-company trainers will strengthen the in-company trainer network. This is the foundation for a sound cooperation between the business and TVET sector”, said Ms. Britta Van Erckelens, Deputy Director of the Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam.
As the next step, the Continuing Training Department will work with the Vietnamese German Programme to conduct qualitative surveys in some enterprises in the three regions of Viet Nam to develop a full competency profile of an in-company trainer for the development of the training curriculum.
The activity was held within the field of activity “Policy Advice and System Reform” as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam. The Programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
