On August 30, 2023, LILAMA 2 International Technology College (LILAMA2), in Dong Nai province, held the graduation ceremony for the graduates from the metal cutting training programme oriented on German standard. This event is organized within the framework of the Programme ‘Partnership Approaches for Development-oriented Vocational Training and Labour Migration’ (PAM) in Vietnam. This significant event was attended by Dr. Josefine Wallat, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Truong Anh Dung, Director General of Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and representatives from the Government Office, LILAMA2 International Technology College, GIZ, enterprise partners, Goethe Institut, Café Deutsche, trainees and their parents.
In March 2022, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership with LILAMA 2 International Technology College (LILAMA2), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) jointly initiated the metal cutting training program oriented on German standard within the framework of the PAM programme in Viet Nam. The objective of the PAM Programme in Viet Nam is to address the growing need for skilled workers in both the Vietnamese and German labor markets, all while adhering to principles of sustainable development.
The training program lasted 1,5 years at LILAMA2 and trained 50 trainees (of which 10 are women and 8 are ethnic minority people of Van Kieu and Paco) coming from rural, mountainous and urban areas in provinces of the country. Taking part in this programme, the trainees are trained on theory and occupational practice skills, soft skills, German language and German culture. After graduation, they are awarded the intermediate certificates of Vietnam. All of them are granted with 100% tuition fee and scholarship because the PAM programme has inclusive training approach (VET training assess for all young people).
By August 2023, 15 trainees are selected in the abroad track to be supported to migrate to Germany for work as skilled workers, 9 of them have already received job offers from German enterprises amongst these are 3 women, 11 graduates will be supported to learn further to college level and 17 graduates will enter the national labour market.
At the ceremony, a female trainee – Nguyen thi Thu Hien, shared: “I am so lucky to be a trainee of this programme. I have the opportunity to learn theoretical and practical skills and knowledge during my in-company training at selected enterprises. Those enterprises were Schaeffler Vietnam, Ishisei Vietnam and Fisher ASIA companies. The programme not only provides an occupation for my future, but also teaches me German language”.
Mr. Le Duc Tuan, a parent of a trainee, said: “Due to receiving the metal cutting training oriented on German standards, my son can migrate to German to work. That is his biggest wish as well as for my family. We sincerely thank the PAM programme in Vietnam, GIZ, Lilama 2 to provide him a chance to go through the vocational training and create opportunities for his future when migrating to work abroad”.
