Given that the qualification of teaching staff is crucial for the quality of training, a further training course for teaching staff and in-company trainers took place in Ho Chi Minh city from May 15 to May 23, 2018. Participants of the training were new teaching staff of Ho Chi Minh College for Technology (HVCT) and 8 new in-company trainers of wastewater companies from Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang and Binh Duong.
Based on the results of the trial assessment in March, 2018 which was based on the German examination standard, the further training course aimed at filling the gaps of knowledge and practical skills in two areas: Nitrogen – Phosphorous Elimination and Pump Station Operation – Maintenance. Trainers of the course were experienced in-company trainers who were well-equipped with technical expertise and didactic competence. These in-company trainers were granted a Certificate of Equivalence issued by the Dresden Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Germany) in November 2017.
The qualified teaching staff and in-company trainers have become a core resource of the cooperative training programme, training of trainers and of short-term courses for the occupation “Sewage Engineering Technician”. This fact shows the sustainability and continuity of capacity development over the past 3 years. In the near future, these well-trained multipliers will continue to be an important resource for spreading the vocational training programme “Sewage Engineering Technician” nationwide.
The training is held within the field of activity “TVET for Skilled Workforce in Wastewater Sector” as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam. The programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
