Further training course on welding technology for teachers at VCMI

The training course “Advanced welding technology” was successfully conducted from November 02nd to 04th 2023 at the College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI). The aim of the course was to develop teachers’ capacity and equip knowledge of current advanced welding technology for 05 VCMI key teachers who have been teaching in the German standard oriented occupation “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology” (SHK) at VCMI. The master trainer was Mr. Nguyen Van Vung, the Vice Dean of Mechanics Faculty at VCMI, who took part in various training courses implemented by GIZ. Therefore, he developed didactic concepts and multiplied what he has been trained to implement the training for other teachers at VCMI.

During this 3-day course, participants were provided with knowledge on safety regulations for operation and usage of welding equipment, especially oxygen-acetylene equipment. They had opportunities to practice professional tools and devices to practice welding on various welding connections on various steel and stainless-steel structures including plate with plate, pipe with plate, pipe with pipe used different methods as following: Oxygen – Acetylene; MIG (Metal Inert Gas)/MAG (Metal Active Gas); TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas).

During practice sessions, the teachers discussed with each other to consolidate and enhance their professional skills for meeting the requirements of welding joints according to international standards.

In addition, the teachers were updated with operational skills and specification adjustments on advanced welding equipment in practice, in order to improve the quality of practical trainings for students in the future.

“The course was a great and helpful chance for us to review and consolidate trained knowledge and skills, as well as update the new advanced technology for applying our teaching contents in the future.” – Ms Dinh Thi Cuc, one of the participants and key teachers of the SHK occupation at VCMI – share her thoughts.

This training course was held within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes” as part of the Vietnamese-German “Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
