Examiners of LILAMA 2 and partner companies start to prepare the final examinations for the pilot classes oriented on German standards

The meeting of the examination committees for the two occupations Metal Cutting-CNC Technicians and Construction Mechanics Technicians on 13 June 2019 marks the start of the preparation and implementation process of the final examinations for the pilot occupations at LILAMA 2 in cooperation with its partner companies.

LILAMA 2, jointly with partner companies and sector associations and supported by DVET, DoLISA Dong Nai and line ministries, is implementing the cooperative training approach which is oriented on the key success factors of the German TVET system. Partner companies already participated actively in developing the occupational standards and training programmes for Metal Cutting-CNC, Construction Mechanics, Mechatronics and Industrial Electronics as well as in conducting in-company training phases for the trainees under the supervision and guidance of qualified in-company trainers.

In the final step, the partner companies directly participate in the process of developing and implementing the final examinations for the four pilot classes to verify that the graduates meet the requirements of the industry. This process follows the key elements of the German examination system while being adjusted to the conditions in Vietnam. The final examination is based on the developed occupational standards for each occupation. The examination reflects the occupational knowledge and skills which are necessary to perform the duties and tasks defined by the business sector in these standards. Also, representatives of the partner companies will be part of the examination committee which is responsible for the development of examinations and their implementation according to the rules.

During the meeting, the participants of the companies and LILAMA 2 agreed mutually on the draft implementation regulations with new structure of the final examination and their motivation to become an active member of the examination committee. The committee consists of up ten teachers and in-company trainers with the responsibility to develop work assignments, to organize examinations as well as to supervise the examinees and to assess their work results.

Following this meeting, the committee members for Metal Cutting-CNC Technicians and for Construction Mechanics Technicians are going to further develop the final examination for their occupation which is planned to be conducted between September and October 2019.

In preparation for the examinations, an examiner training of 80h is going to take place for the members of the committee. In this intensive further training course, the potential examiners will be trained by an experienced international expert in the development and appropriate examination implementation and assessment of examinees. Subsequently, the examiners will organize and conduct the final examination under the coaching of the international expert to confirm the orderly implementation and justified assessment of the results of the pilot classes.

This activity is held within the component “Support for Centres of Excellence for TVET” as part of the Vietnamese-German “Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
