In Hanoi, on 11th December 2019, the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) of MOLISA with support of the Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam, organized a consultative workshop on the initial findings of the evaluation of the Vocational Training (VT) Development Strategy 2011-2020. The workshop aimed to seek for expert viewpoints and particularly voices and opinions of TVET stakeholders such as TVET institutes, the business sector, state management agencies, etc. on lessons learnt from the implementation of the current VT Development Strategy and more importantly, on issues to be addressed in the future strategy so as to promote Vocational Education and Training (VET) of Viet Nam, in the period 2021-2030.
At the workshop, experts contributed different approaches to the evaluation of the current VT Development Strategy, explained on the principles of developing effective TVET strategy as well as introduced good TVET strategies of Indonesia and Ethiopia. Besides, the workshop received comments and feedbacks from grassroot level such as TVET institutes managers which helps complete the picture of the practical issues to addressed.
Developing a new VET Development Strategy has been identified a priority and key task of the Government of Viet Nam in 2020, specifically for MOLISA and DVET. The current plan sets July 2020 as the due time for the submission of the strategy draft. This workshop was an important kick-off event of the series of strategic and technical debates and workshops toward the development of a new strategy on the promotion of Vocational Education and Training of Viet Nam of the next ten years.
