A 3-day capacity-building on sewerage canals network took place from the 17th to the 19th September 2015, at Ho Chi Minh Vocational College of Technology (HVTC). 5 teachers from HVTC and 20 in-company trainers participated in the course. This training is a result of the activity field 3 “Vocational training for the wastewater sector” under the Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam (GIZ).
The course focused on hydraulic calculation which serves urban sewerage works such as operation of sewers, pumps and pumping stations. It helped prepare relevant contents for the pilot vocational training programme on Sewage Engineering Technicians which will be tentatively launched on November 2015.
Based on knowledge gained from previous trainings, the trainees continued to practice calculation exercises through thematic group discussions. These exercises were designed based on German standards and practical techniques in Vietnam as well as a thematic system that the teachers could apply to their lectures in the new training programme.
At the end of the course, the participants took an evaluation test on gained knowledge and practical capacity, the result of which will be the basis for the next trainings.
