In continuation of the “introductory training course on workshop management” organized from 28th Nov. – 2nd Dec. 2011 in Hanoi, within the framework of Vietnamese-German “Programme Vocational Training 2008”, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and General Department of Vocational Training (GDVT) organized an assessment mission to 6 partner TVET institutes of An Giang, Long An, Lilama2, Ninh Thuan, Bac Ninh and Viet Bac to analyze status and practices on management of training workshops at TVET institutes, and to provide advices for further improvement.
Participating in the mission from partner institutes were representatives of management board, departments and especially teachers who are directly responsible for workshop management and also who gained knowledge about workshop management and important steps of quality improvement through the training course in Hanoi.
At the institutes, the mission together with the teachers visited and worked right at training workshops. There, analysis discussions were organized using questionnaires prepared by the mission consultants. Based on analysis results, overall plans as well as detailed plans have been developed on overall management and maintenance of machines, equipment for effective utilization. The plans have been hung up in workshops to guide teachers be active in following-up on the tasks, e.g. to ensure adequate usage of machines, availability of materials and tools. Also the plans are visible to trainees so that they are also reminded on work and health safety as well as schedules of maintenance.
At the end of assessment at each institute, the GIZ mission together with institute leader signed an agreement committing to carrying out the detailed activities analyzed in the two working days and documented in the plans.
