Ninh Thuan Vocational College (NTVC) celebrated the conclusion of the three-year Development Partnership with the Private Sector (DPP) Vocational Training Center for Renewable Energies – Wind and Solar Technology, supported by the develoPPP Programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The DPP was implemented among the cooperation partners Vietnam Industries Buildings Services JSC (IBS), Festo Didactic from Germany, and Schneider Electric from France and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on behalf of the BMZ. It plays an important role in addressing the growing demand for skilled workers in the renewable energy sector, through promoting the engagement of the private sector into technical vocational education and training, contributing to the just, green and digital transformation of the Vietnamese energy and manufacturing sector.

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, it is expected that the transition to renewable energy can add 18 million jobs globally in the sector by 2050. Viet Nam, with its abundant wind and solar resources, is one of the leading countries to this trend. With its goal of becoming CO2 neutral by 2050, Viet Nam plans to expand its renewable energies production and use to around 70%. This will lead to a massively growing demand for skilled workforce, competent to produce, install, operate and maintain renewable energy power plants with its associated infrastructure and supplier industries.
Addressing these challenges, within the framework of the develoPPP Programme, NTVC has developed strong partnerships with companies in the energy sector, besides with the above mentioned project partners also with known companies such as Thuan Binh Wind JSC, Enercon Viet Nam Co. Ltd, Trung Nam Technical Service Ltd, BIM Group, Thuan Hai Renewable Energy, Renewable Energy Asset Management, Tuy Phong Wind Power Plant, Vu Phong Energy Group, Thuan Hai Renewable Energy Power, Song Hung Thuan Company, Through the partnership, significant progress has been made. Ninh Thuan Vocational College is the first public college to be supported in building a the renewable energy training complex with a wind tower simulation. It also marks the first time a female teacher from Viet Nam climbing on a wind turbine. More than 1,000 hours of training for TVET teachers, in-company trainers, technical staff and students have been delivered. More than 300 industry technicians and college trainees, of which 67 are women and 127 youth, were qualified in training courses with a duration of less than three months.
“Thanks to this cooperation, we were able to develop the 6-month further training programme Wind Energy Service Technician based on the demands of national and international wind energy companies and following the Vietnamese legal requirements as well as various short-term courses on renewable energies as further qualification offer for technicians and engineers of the Vietnamese industry”, shared Mr. Nguyen Phan Anh Quoc, NTVC Rector. The training programmes would broaden the students’ employment opportunities in the field of renewable energy, thus ensuring a skilled labour force for the sector locally.
