Promotion of regular migration through German transcultural preparation training courses for personnel from 11 TVET colleges and PAM partners

Series of Capacity Development Training (ToT) on “Transcultural Preparation for migrating skilled workers to Germany” in May and September 2023

The Programme on “Partnership Approaches for Development-oriented Vocational Training and Labour Migration” (PAM in Viet Nam) has been implemented from 2022-2024 by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Lilama 2 International Technology college in Dong Nai province. The PAM Programme provides a German-standard oriented metal cutting training, German language, soft skills and transcultural skills for about 50 trainees to be capable of competing in labor markets of both Viet Nam and Germany.

Providing adequate and official information on migration to Germany and presenting it at the colleges for not only PAM trainees but also other potential migrants, the PAM Programme held transcultural preparation training courses for both PAM trainees and personnel from 11 TVET colleges and PAM’s partners. The basic Capacity Development Training was provided to 30 participants on 18-19 May 2023 in Vung Tau City when the advanced training for 27 participants on 13-14 September 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City. The first one focused on the provision of background information on Germany history, society, geography, culture and laws while the second one paid more attention on training conception, methodology and practicing of relevant teaching methods in transcultural topic.

The training courses are highly appreciated by all participants. In particularly Ms. Nguyen Hong Ngoc Lam, Project Manager of “Hand in Hand for International talents” stated: ‘I feel much more confident after the training courses, now I am able to apply a wide range of training/teaching methodologies and especially I strongly believe that I can support better to potential migrants on transcultural skills thanks to these courses’

After the training course, all participants will be provided with a set of training toolkits including a training manual on transcultural preparation, training materials and tools.
