From 07 to 11 November 2022, the training “Strategic TVET Management” was conducted in Magdeburg, Germany for leaders of 11 partner colleges. The training supports leaders of TVET Institutes to improve leadership effectiveness, align their teams and organizations towards change and innovation.
During the training course, the participants were guided through several concepts such as: (1) the need for change and innovation, (2) 21st century skills and education, (3) 21st century TVET leadership, (4) key leadership and management roles and competences, (5) innovation and development strategy for products and service development, (6) portfolio development, (7) change management concepts, and (8) organizational and performance management. They also visited two institutions in the German vocational training sector: Otto von Guericke Vocational School and the inter-company training center of SBH Nordost Ltd., Co in Magdeburg. After the field visit, participants gained deep insights into the German dual system and draw lessons for the case of their own institutes.
Talking about the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Duc Luu – Rector of Bac Ninh College of Industry commented: “The training course is useful because I could learn new teaching approach from our trainer, Mr. Bert Hoffman. The training course also provided knowledge on change management and fruitful experience from our visit to the TVET Institute and company in German dual system that can be applied to our college”. Mr. Pham Duy Dong – Vice Rector of College of Machinery and Irrigation also shared: “This is an useful training course with practical knowledge that can be applied at our college in terms of school management and change management. The training course was organized well with the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical site visit. I acquired many lessons learnt on changes and trends of TVET development in Germany”.
This is an annual activity to develop the leadership and management capacity of the leaders of TVET Institutes in the changing world of work. This activity is carried out within the framework of the Component “Support of High Quality TVET Institutes”, under the Vietnam-Germany Cooperation Programme “Reform of TVET in Vietnam” and in close cooperation with TVET Academy – Competence Development in TVET.
The Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
