On September 23rd, 2022, Mr Le Tan Dung, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) visited the College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI). Also participating in the delegation were Ms Nguyen Thi Viet Huong, the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) and Mr Le Van Chuong, the Deputy Head of the Skills Department, the officers and the development advisors of the Programme “Reform of TVET in Vietnam” (TVET Programme, GIZ).
The main objective of the visit was to encourage the competitor and experts of the Electrical Installations occupation to actively train and practice for the preparation of the World Skills Competition Special Edition which will happen in Salzburg, Austria in November 2022. The competitor Vu Trong Son of the Electrical Installation occupation has been supported by the TVET Programme technically and financially to ensure that the training and the participation process will take place successfully.
Also during the visit, the delegation was presented on the development history, achievements during the past few years of the college, and also the challenges that it has been facing during the process of developing VCMI to become a High-quality Institute for Green TVET by Dr Nguyen Van Chuong – the College Rector. The Vice Minister Le Tan Dung was highly impressed with the pilot of the two new occupations which followed the concept of German standard-oriented cooperative training, with the support from the TVET Programme: “Electronics for Energy and Building Technology” and “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology”.
In the closing speech, Mr Le Tan Dung expressed: “With the support from the college, the training team, especially the TVET Programme, the competitor of the Electrical Installations occupation has had the best preparation in terms of technical knowledge, training equipment, intensive training course in Germany to learn and experience. In addition, VCMI has achieved initial success in the implementation of cooperative training programmes with the participation of the business sector, setting a foundation for the multiplication of this concept to other TVET institutes in Vietnam in the future.”
This activity was held within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes” as part of the Vietnamese – German “Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
