Following the series of further training on maintenance, the second course of “Advanced Maintenance Training” was successfully conducted on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 24th March to 16th April 2022 at the Metal Cutting and Construction Mechanics Workshops – Campus A – LILAMA 2 International Technology College (LILAMA 2). With the pedagogical methods and workshop management knowledge equipped during the previous section, two teachers in the Mechanics faculty were nominated to be the trainers of this activity.
Similar to the first course, the objective of the training is to provide extensive knowledge and practice opportunities for the teachers and students on maintenance and repair of machine and equipment. In other words, it allowed the two trainers to multiply their experience and skills for other teachers and students in the faculty. There is a wide variety of machinery covered throughout the course, namely conventional turning and milling machine, CNC oxyfuel cutting, hydraulic power shears, band saw machine… therefore the trainees have been very well-prepared to carry out the actual maintenance and repair works in the future.
“I used to easily get panic when encountering machine malfunctional errors, however it is no longer the case now after the training, in which I have been equipped with the knowledge in machine configuration and the understanding of repair and maintenance procedure. From now on, I feel very confident to handle and address any machine technical issues that may arise during the operation” – Tran Tuan Khai, one of the participants of the training expressed.
Looking at the downsides, Trainer Nguyen Ngoc Huy said: “I generally satisfied with the outcomes of the training, we are very happy to see many machines in a good condition now. However, in terms of scope for improvement, we should also integrate electronic experts next time for a more comprehensive approach since maintenance and repair require both the know-how of mechanical and electrical components”.
The “Advanced Maintenance Training” was held within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes” as part of the Vietnamese- German Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
