Further training course reflecting industrial standards equips teaching staff with advanced competences in Mechatronics

“The training course was very practical with practice-oriented exercises based on industrial standards. I will definitely use this approach for the regular training at my college”, Mr. Luong Quang Tien, a participating teacher from Dong Nai College of High Technology (DCoHT) expressed his feedback during the advanced training course on installation and testing of pneumatics and hydraulics controls. The course was successfully conducted at LILAMA 2 International Technology College (LILAMA 2) from May 14 to May 26, 2018.

11 key teachers of LILAMA 2, Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI), Ho Chi Minh Vocational College of Technology (HVCT) and DCoHT attended the course, under the instruction of Mr Frank Schulze, an experienced international training expert and Mr Kieu Tan Thoi, a teacher from LILAMA 2. During the course with the duration of 100 hours the participants deepened their knowledge and skills in developing a work steps plan, installing and commissioning of specific pneumatics and hydraulics controls, such as pneumatic/hydraulic press, drilling fixture, and lifting device according to industrial standards. They also became familiar with self-assessment and documentation of their performance.

At the end of the training course, the competence level of each participant was assessed according to German Standard criteria. The teaching staff will consolidate their mechatronic competences in a further training course on conventional metal cutting that will take place in June 2018.

This training course is part of a comprehensive further training concept for teaching staff of LILAMA2, VCMI and other qualified TVET teaching staff in the region. The concept aims at developing practical professional competences of vocational trainers comparable to the competences of a German skilled worker in the industrial occupations of Metal Cutting-CNC, Construction Mechanics, Industrial Electronics and Mechatronics.

The training course was held within the field of activity “Support of Centres of Excellence for TVET” as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam. The programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
