“The demand for a highly skilled workforce in Vietnam increases rapidly. Thus, this partnership is a critical step towards upskilling the labor force to stay competitive” states Mr. Guru Mallikarjuna, Managing Director of Bosch Viet Nam, at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between Bosch Vietnam, the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET), LILAMA 2 International Technology College and the GIZ Programme “Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam”. The ceremony took place on 22 August 2018 at the LILAMA 2 College in the Province Dong Nai. It marks the starting point of a development partnership on “Integrating Requirements of Industry 4.0 in TVET” supported by the develoPPP-Programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The partners will develop modules reflecting the requirements of Industry 4.0 and integrate them into relevant technical training programmes. An Industry 4.0 Lab, provided by Bosch Vietnam, will be used to train teachers and in-company instructors. “Trainees who take part in the modernised training programmes will learn practical skills and theoretical knowledge reflecting the latest technological developments, and thus improve their employability significantly” highlighted Mr. Nguyen Khanh Cuong, Director of LILAMA 2 College.
To raise awareness, the project will organise a conference on the requirements of Industry 4.0 in TVET, on September 18 and 19 in Ho Chi Minh City. Representatives from the government, industry, civil society, TVET institutes and international organisations will discuss the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the skills requirements of the labour force in Vietnam. The conference results and a demand analysis will form the basis for developing and piloting Industry 4.0 training modules. “This pilot project is very important for us, since the modules can be implemented in TVET institutes throughout the entire country. Also, we can use the recommendations to integrate relevant aspects related to Industry 4.0 into the TVET regulatory framework” says Dr. Truong Anh Dung, Deputy Director General of DVET highlighting the significance of the partnership for the TVET system in Vietnam.
