Technical occupations like Metal Cutting, Mechatronics, Mechanic,… used to be dominated by men but nowadays, more and more women are encouraged to pursuit their career in technical field.
“With the advance of modern technology and automation, technical occupations are no longer heavy but suitable to both men and women. Thanks to their meticulousness and attentiveness, women studying these often have impressive results at school and good job opportunities after graduation”, said Mr Vu Quang Khue, vice-rector of Bac Ninh College of Industry (BCI)
Industry 4.0 brings an increasing need for skilled workforce, including many technical positions suitable for women. To promote women’s participation in technical field, last year, the Vietnamese-German Programme “Reform of TVET in Vietnam” with BCI, LILAMA 2 International Technology College and Ho Chi Minh College of Technology (HVCT) to grant scholarships for female trainees enrolling in technical occupation. In the coming enrolment season, many information days and career orientation days will also be organised at BCI to help female school leavers make a suitable career choice.
