Mechatronics teachers from various TVET institutes improve their skills in specific topics of Mechanical Engineering

The training course on “Assembling of mechanical subassemblies and machines, introduction of mechanical diagnostic tools” was conducted for mechatronics teachers of LILAMA 2, Long An and An Giang from 12/04 to 21/04/2019 at LILAMA 2 International Technology College.

LILAMA 2, Long An and An Giang colleges have been equipped with modern training equipment. To improve the teaching activities at their colleges using the new training equipment the teachers need to gain knowledge and skills on mechanical assembling and disassembling, with a focus on typical engineering subunits and machines such as gearboxes, compressors and pumps. Based on these needs, the course was designed and implemented by Mr. Le Quang Huy – National Lecturer from Hung Yen University of Technical Education – focusing on the three main objectives:

  • Obtaining practical skills and experience on dealing with and assembling machine elements such as bearings, shafts and couplings
  • Planning and carrying out assembling and disassembling of mechanical subunits
  • Learning about specific methods of monitoring plant/ machinery condition, such as the early detection of bearing or gear damage

The course also aimed at providing participants with knowledge and skills on some special topics:

  • Mechanical vibrations, which gives an overview on causes, mechanisms of occurrence, imbalance, Laval rotor, resonance, damping, shock
  • Vibration measuring methods, which highlights on measuring sensor, measuring amplifier, representation, oscilloscope, speed measurement
  • Vibration analysis, which helps with identification on acceleration, vibration velocity, vibration path, characteristics, representation in time and frequency domain, spectrum, FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation), orders, tracking analysis, envelope analysis, trajectory
  • Machinery diagnostic, which give a reference on bearing and shaft vibrations, permissible vibration levels, roller bearing damage, electromagnetic vibration, imbalance vibrations, etc.

I’m very excited to support the teachers in learning to use the existing professional engineering and diagnostic equipment in modern labs and workshops. The equipment is perfect for trainees to use, also for technical staff of companies”, Mr. Huy, trainer, said. He also noted that from the beginning, all participants worked very hard to understand all the topics; in the future, they can appropriately use the provided training equipment at their own colleges.

The course was wrapped up with an evaluation. Mr. Kieu Tan Thoi, assistant trainer, commented: “Applying the newly gained knowledge and skills during the training for our trainees as soon as possible is very important so that we do not forget what we learned in this course.” Mr. Phan Tan Phuoc, teacher from An Giang College, supplemented “After this training, we know how to use the equipment more efficiently and we are ready to train our trainees”.

The training course is organised within the field of activity “Support of Centres of Excellence for TVET” as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA)
