Hanoi, 29-30.5.2013

On 29th and 30th May 2013, the workshop for developing Viet Nam Vocational Training Report 2012 was organized to discuss about its development procedures based on the review of lessons learnt from the development of the last year Report 2011. The workshop focused on the identification and development of key indicators which will later monitor the implementation of the Vietnamese TVET Development Strategy 2011 – 2020 based on quality standards.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Van Sam, Deputy Director General of GDVT, attended the workshop and had an introduction speech. He highlighted the significant meaning of the Report in supporting the implementation and development of national policies. He also stressed the commitment of GDVT in developing the Report 2012 and expressed the wish of creating a synergy between the development of the annual Report and the establishment of a national database for the TVET system of Viet Nam.

This workshop was organised under the framework of the Trilateral Cooperation Agreement between the Institute for Vocational Training Research (NIVT) of the General Department of Vocational Training (GDVT/MoLISA), the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This was the first workshop in the plan of two workshops to be organized this year. Participants of the workshop were mainly researchers of NIVT and officials of different functional departments of GDVT; experts from General Statistics Office (GSO), Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA), as well as Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) also participated in the workshop. The workshop was facilitated by key researchers of NIVT in cooperation with experts of BIBB and GIZ.

Under the technical guidance of BIBB experts, NIVT researchers applied their hands-on experiences from the development of the previous Report, worked together in groups with GDVT’s officials to identify key indicators, information sources, level of relation to the TVET Development Strategy 2011-2020, etc. They also designed a draft outline for different content chapters of the Report 2012. These products had been shared and gained useful feedback from experts in the workshop.
