LILAMA 2 International Technology College is among the TVET-institutes with the most professional, state-of-the-art equipment. This requires a constant qualification for the practical trainers. From 26 June to 07 July 2017, the training course on Surface and Cylindrical Grinding was successfully organized at LILAMA 2. Nine teachers/ instructors from TVET partner institutes of Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) and LILAMA 2 attended the course.

Under the guidance of the qualified and experienced trainer Mr. Duong Van Linh, the participants learnt a wide spectrum of grinding including important topics such as (i) to select and apply measuring- and testing instruments for grinding, (ii) to set up, operate and maintain Grinding machines, and (iii) to describe, demonstrate and observe safety regulations.

During the training course the participants were instructed to produce semi-complex workpieces with high accuracy by surface and cylindrical grinding procedures on conventional machine tools according to German industry standard. Next to practical work, the course included also operational planning as well as the consequent evaluation of the work products and of the manufacturing process for quality assurance (regarding functionality, appearance and dimensional accuracy), in particular considering the dependence to down- and upstream production units.

After completion of this training course the teachers/instructors are expected to conduct practice-oriented grinding training for their trainees and to utilize the conventional grinding machine tools effectively. The teachers/instructors are also asked to undertake further multiplication measures for their fellow trainers at their institutes.

The training course was held within the activity field “Support of Centres of Excellence for TVET” as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam. The programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
