HAMEE Open Day at LILAMA 2 sparks great interest among the business sector

Following its motto “Cooperation for Success”, on Saturday, 12 August 2017, LILAMA 2 International Technology College (LILAMA 2) and the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Mechanical – Electrical Enterprises’ (HAMEE) together held the HAMEE Open Day at LILAMA 2 in the Dong Nai province, attracting more than 40 HAMEE member companies.

Following its recent membership with HAMEE, the Open Day presented a unique opportunity for LILAMA 2 to present itself, its state-of-the-art equipment and its pilot Cooperative Training programmes in Metal Cutting – CNC, Construction Mechanics, Industrial Electronics and Mechatronics as well as other training services to its fellow HAMEE members. Especially Cooperative Training has the potential to answer the demands for skilled labour by the enterprises. The event was also attended by representatives of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) of Dong Nai province and the Dong Nai Industrial Management Unit, LILAMA 2 teaching and management staff and Vietnamese and German experts from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

During the Open Day, the Cooperative Training approach was presented to the HAMEE members by Mr Peter Wunsch, Senior Technical Advisor GIZ. In Cooperative Training, the business sector (enterprises, sector associations, chambers) play a vital role in the development of occupational standards and training programmes (derived from the occupational standards), the implementation and the assessment and certification of the training. Getting the skilled workforce needed is just one of the benefits of Cooperative Training and the involvement of the business sector. Further benefits include saving recruitment and retraining costs as well as improved productivity and quality for products and services.

The HAMEE member enterprises were impressed by LILAMA 2’s state-of-the-art equipment that they were able to see during organised workshop tours. This presented LILAMA 2 as reliable and demand-driven training provider for HAMEE members that will be discussed in the follow up of the Open Day between LILAMA 2 and HAMEE member enterprises.

The Open day was characterised by a high interest of HAMEE member enterprises. Mr Nguyen Khanh Cuong emphasised the benefits bringing together the training provider LILAMA 2 with the demands of the business sector in order to contribute to the increased competitiveness in the economic integration of Viet Nam.

The Open Day was held within the field of activity “Support of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam. The programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
